Banana Mag (2025 Edition)

In a playful yet thought-provoking twist on the viral "banana taped to the wall" stunt that captivated the art world, Bran has reimagined the concept through the lens of his own signature style. Using the instantly recognizable, curved shape of an AK-47 magazine, Bran has painted it a vibrant yellow, complete with detailing that mimics the texture of a banana.

This piece is more than just a clever visual pun—it’s a commentary on the absurdity of the art market, the fleeting nature of viral sensations, and the ways in which media distractions can overshadow pressing global issues. The yellow-painted AK-47 magazine serves as a stark juxtaposition, representing the underlying realities of conflict, war, and genocide, while simultaneously mocking the frivolity of viral media stunts that dominate public attention.

At its heart, Banana Mag reflects Bran’s sense of humour and his willingness to challenge the conventions of the art world. While he delights in the silliness of the concept, the piece carries a deeper narrative, urging viewers to look beyond the surface and consider the real-world problems often buried beneath the noise of viral trends.

This second edition of Banana Mag follows the first iteration, created in 2021, which sold immediately at HOFA Gallery. The new edition will be featured at Bran’s highly anticipated solo exhibition, Art to Disarm, held at HOFA Gallery in Mayfair.

With Banana Mag, Bran strikes a balance between humor and critique, showcasing his ability to use art not just as a medium for self-expression, but as a platform for reflection on the absurdities and contradictions of contemporary culture.
